JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for all Staff Accounting and Finance Computer Operations functions including assisting the Finance Director with various duties such as overall production and audit related functions. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.):

  1. Responsible for all Reinsurance Accounting and Reporting including reinsurance recoverables.
  2. Responsible for all month end Client Administrative Billings.
  3. Responsible for preparing month end accruals for various clients.
  4. Maintain Staff Accounting processes and procedures manuals.
  5. Assist Finance Director in all aspects of managing the Finance department.
  6. Work with auditors and provide them with data requests
  7. Involved with special accounting projects as needed.
  8. Involved with Testing of various new and existing applications related to Finance.
  9. Oversee all Finance Computer Operations functions including the following:
  10. Daily application of premiums, ACH processing, and direct/list bill processing.
  11. Claim check and EOB processing in QicLink and the transmission of the files to outside vendors.
  12. Troubleshoot problems that in-house personnel have with data, menus, scripts, etc.
  13. Request changes to system menus, scripts and programs.
  14. Interact with programmers for the purpose of instruction of procedures or system function.
  15. Responsible for client month end process, printing of reports for accounting, moving of files/reports or verifying automated processes that copy files/reports to client and reinsurer websites.
  16. Create and print agent checks and ACH files.
  17. Ensure client directories are cleaned up each month.
  18. Provide appropriate and efficient training as required.
  19. Creates and maintains Operations processes and procedures manuals.
  20. Perform Computer Operations duties when Computer Operator is out.
  21. Provide operating support of WINS and SMILE to entire Finance Department and other departments.
  22. Provide Excel and other technical expertise and support to entire Finance Department.
  23. Additional responsibilities to be determined as needed.


  1. Work directly with clients, reinsurers, and auditors.
  2. As needed, miscellaneous duties as assigned by department director.

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Staff Accounting and Operations associates.

 QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are mandatory, strong PC skills including Word and Excel are a must, good 10 key skills, good written and verbal communication skills are required.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  Bachelors Degree in Accounting or in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and at least 5 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting.  CPA preferred.  Experience in insurance operations and/or insurance reporting preferred.  FLMI designation preferred, eventually required.
