Medical - Dental - Vision - 401K - Basic and Supplemental Life Insurance - Long and Short Term Disability


JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the assistance with various clerical duties in support of the claims processing service staff. Provide prompt and courteous customer service. Utilize applicable policy form, insurance law and internal procedures to answer inquiries and process requests for clients and department. Clear understanding of how various functions within the operation relate to and impact each other.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.):

  • Must be able to work scheduled shift and if needed, rotate schedules with other employees for proper departmental staffing needs and/or work overtime as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with providers, agents, policyholders and their representatives.
  • Assist with daily file transfer between departments.
  • Maintain correspondence filing in an effective and timely manner.
  • Report and/or correct errors in computer records and department spreadsheets for actuarial reporting.
  • Scanning and/or Indexing correspondence in appropriate systems in a timely manner.
  • Maintain individual caseloads and internal reports for claim tracking purposes.
  • Generate correspondence regarding errors in filed claims mailings.
  • Maintain the daily distribution of the mail and fax logs.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Medical terminology experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where procedures change frequently.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must possess good data entry and typing skills with consistent accuracy.
  • Must be able to work independently, recognize and appropriately set priorities, and demonstrate interpersonal & decision making skills.
  • Must be able to exhibit flexibility in performing multiple functions.
  • Must be team-oriented, as well as possess a good attitude and attendance record.
  • Must be able to understand broad, strategic concepts involved in the data entry operation & link these to the day-to-day business functions. 
  • Must understand both their individual goals and the team goals and what is required to achieve them. Patience, confidentiality, honesty, and a fair/consistent demeanor are essential. Respect for the company and its policies & procedures is crucial.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Insurance, PC, Windows, and Word experience are required; Excel
experience is advantageous. Data entry experience is required.
